In an interview with CNN, Guinea President Alpha Condé highlights the importance of power to industrialize Guinea.

President Alpha Condé said:

“We expect that access to electricity will have a powerful and transformative effect on our ability to industrialize and to create valuable products from our commodities. Due to our unique geographic position, we are able not only to produce energy and change the lives of our people but also in our region  – like Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and Gambia.”

 We are not only going to produce energy for ourselves, but also for our neighbors  – President Alpha Condé

“So we are not only to produce for ourselves, but also for our neighbours. This year, we will start work on two other dams – the Souapiti project with more than 500 MW capacity, and the Koukoutamba project near the Senegal River”.

“We need to meet our domestic and industrial energy needs. We must prepare for the future and move from the production of bauxite to alumina processing for instance”.
