Alliance Mining Commodities (AMC) has proposed the development of a bauxite mine covering a 728km² area located in Koumbia (Gaoual prefecture), in the Boké region.
The project cost is estimated at $1 billion.
The project includes the construction of a 120km railway to link the mine to the port of Kamsar, on the mouth of the Rio Nunez.
Bauxite production is planned to begin in 2019.
The mining agreement was reviewed by the Technical Committee for the Review of Mining Contracts and Titles (CTRTCM). The CTRTCM was set up in 2012 by the Guinean State, with the support of international institutions, to aid the implementation of a transparent policy that helps promote win-win projects.
